I hope you enjoyed your long weekend. Teachers were up at Lamkin getting ready for three fun, hardworking weeks until Spring Break. I'm excited to say we have some fun Language Arts activities coming up!
Homework Help:
Due to the week's late start the following assignments are due Friday.
1) Reading Homework with story on the Grand Canyon. Students are working on underlining the sentence that has the answer to the question in it. I hope they will consider this while doing the reading assignment.
2) A spelling activity from the menu. (I'm working on creating a jpeg photo file of the spelling menu for you to post each week.)
3) Writing cancelled due to shorter time.
4) Home reader cancelled due to shorter time but please consider reading any that you currently have. 2 signatures get a sticker to earn prizes, 10 signatures earns a trip to the treasure chest.
Weekly reminders:
Friday is Go Western Day. We'll be performing at 9:45am in the gym. I believe you can park in the back and walk straight into the gym without having to show your license but please bring it just in case!
Learning Goals:
Reading-We're wrapping up our study of non-fiction text features. I'm working on posting those in a jpeg format for you too this week!
Writing-We're continuing our work on non-fiction writing by making a "magazine" with organized writing on a topic of our choice.
Social Studies-We're wrapping up our study of Early Cypress and moving towards the symbols, battles and influential people of Texas!
Once we teach the majority of the lesson we'll be making some videos to post about non-fiction and kids reading their writing but I'll need some extra time to learn about posting :)
